In short, the procedure is as follows: you order and pay for the water analysis, collect the sample in a clean container, package it and hand it over to the courier we will send to you. We analyze the sample and send you the results by email. Full details can be found below.

How the water analysis service works:

1. Order and pay: Place your order directly on our website and pay the analysis fee in advance (by online card or bank transfer).
2. Sample collection: Open the tap and let the water run for ~3 minutes. Rinse a clean container of approx. 1 liter (plastic or glass) 2-3 times with water from the tap/source. Fill the container to the maximum and screw the cap on very tightly.
3. Labeling and packaging: Label the sample with a marker, noting the following details: name, collection address, date and time of collection, order number. Then package the container in a box so that it does not get damaged during transport.
4. Sample pickup by courier: We will send a courier to your address to collect the water sample so that you do not need to travel.
5. Professional analysis: The sample is analyzed in our laboratory using high-precision spectrometers, evaluating 11 key physico-chemical parameters of your water. 
6. Fast delivery of results: Within 3-5 business days of receiving the sample, you will receive a complete analysis report by email showing the quality of your water, so you can take steps to improve it if necessary.
7. Interpretation and recommendations: Once we have the final results, we will briefly explain the issues found and suggest solutions for improving your water quality.

Parameters analyzed:
These parameters and their ranges are also relevant for water quality analysis, but include a few differences and additional values. Here is what each parameter represents:

1. TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)
   This is a measure of the total amount of solid substances dissolved in water, expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm). TDS includes any compounds dissolved in water, such as mineral salts, metals, inorganic salts and organic matter. It is an important parameter in evaluating water quality, especially for drinking water, but also for other uses such as agriculture, industry and aquaristics.
2. Water turbidity - 0-1000 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units)
   This is a measure of the clarity or transparency of water and indicates the presence of suspended particles in the water, such as sediments, microorganisms, organic matter or algae. These contaminants can affect not only the appearance of the water, but also its quality for consumption or other uses. The more turbid the water, the less clear it is, and high turbidity values can indicate poorer water quality.

3. Free Chlorine – 0-15 ppm
   This is the level of chlorine actively available in the water to disinfect and eliminate microorganisms. Free chlorine is important for maintaining microbiologically safe water. A level that is too low may not provide adequate disinfection, while a level that is too high can cause irritation or an unpleasant taste.

4. Total Chlorine – 0-15 ppm
   Total chlorine includes both free chlorine and combined chlorine (bound to other substances, such as ammonia). It is a measure of the entire amount of chlorine present in the water, including that already used for the oxidation of contaminants. The difference between total chlorine and free chlorine is combined chlorine.

5. Combined Chlorine – 0-15 ppm
   This represents chlorine bound to other substances in the water (e.g., chloramines), which is less effective at disinfection. The presence of a high level of combined chlorine indicates that the water is already “spent” and refreshing or additional treatment is required.

6. pH – 6.4-10.0
   pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water. Values below 7 indicate acidity, while values above 7 indicate alkalinity. A correct pH is important for the effectiveness of chlorine and for preventing corrosion or scale buildup in water systems. 

7. Total Hardness – 0-60 dH (German degrees) / 0-1200 ppm
   Water hardness is determined by the concentrations of calcium and magnesium. Hard water (>200 ppm) can cause limescale deposits in pipes and equipment. In general, soft water has a lower mineral content (below 60 ppm).

8. Total Iron – 0-6 ppm
   Iron in water can cause stains on sanitary surfaces and clothing, and can give water a metallic taste. In addition, iron can encourage bacterial growth. Ideally, the iron concentration should be below 0.3 ppm in drinking water.

9. Copper – 0-6 ppm
   Copper can come from water pipes and can become toxic at high concentrations. Concentrations above 1.3 ppm can be harmful to health, and excess copper can cause an unpleasant taste in the water and corrosion of installations.

10. Total Alkalinity – 0-250 ppm
    Alkalinity measures the capacity of water to neutralize acids and is closely related to pH stability. Correct alkalinity helps maintain a stable pH, which protects equipment and ensures good disinfection. Ideally, water should have an alkalinity between 80-120 ppm.
