In short, the procedure is as follows: you order and pay for the water analysis, collect the sample in a clean container, package it and hand it over to the courier we will send to you. We analyze the sample and send you the results by email. Full details can be found below.

How the water analysis service works:

1. Order and pay: Place your order directly on our website and pay the analysis fee in advance (by online card or bank transfer).
2. Sample collection: Open the tap and let the water run for ~3 minutes. Rinse a clean container of approx. 1 litre (PET) 2-3 times with water from the tap/source. Fill the container to the maximum and screw the cap on very tightly.
3. Labelling and packaging: Label the sample with a marker, noting the following details: name, collection address, date and time of collection, order number. Then package the container in a box to prevent damage during transport.
4. Sample pickup by courier: We will send a courier to your address to collect the water sample, so you don't need to travel.
5. Professional analysis: The sample is analyzed in our laboratory using high-precision spectrometers, evaluating 11 key physico-chemical parameters of your water. 
6. Fast delivery of results: Within 3-5 working days of receiving the sample, you will receive a complete analysis report by email showing the quality of your water, so you can take action to improve it if necessary.
7. Interpretation and recommendations: Once we have the final results, we briefly explain the issues found and suggest solutions for improving your water quality.

Parameters analyzed:
These parameters and their ranges are also relevant for water quality analysis, but include a few differences and additional values. Here is what each parameter represents:

1. TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)
   This is a measure of the total amount of solid substances dissolved in water, expressed in milligrams per litre (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm). TDS includes any compounds dissolved in water, such as mineral salts, metals, inorganic salts and organic matter. It is an important parameter in assessing water quality, particularly for drinking water, but also for other uses such as agriculture, industry and aquaristics.
2. Water turbidity - 0-1000 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units)
   This is a measure of the clarity or transparency of water and indicates the presence of suspended particles in the water, such as sediments, microorganisms, organic matter or algae. These contaminants can affect not only the appearance of the water, but also its quality for consumption or other uses. The more turbid the water, the less clear it is, and high turbidity values may indicate lower quality water.

3. pH – 4.5-8.6
   This measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water. Lower values indicate more acidic water, while higher values indicate more alkaline water. Water with an optimal pH for consumption should be between 6.5 and 8.5. Values that are too acidic (below 6.5) may indicate potential pipe corrosion or other chemical issues.

4. Total Hardness – 0-60 dH / 0-1,200 ppm
   Total hardness measures the content of minerals (calcium and magnesium) dissolved in water. A high level of hardness (above 15 dH) can lead to limescale deposits and equipment problems. The range of 0-40 dH (German degrees) or 0-1200 ppm covers a complete spectrum from very soft to extremely hard water.

5. Total Iron – 0-6 ppm
   This measures the total iron in water, including both ferric iron (Fe³⁺) and ferrous iron (Fe²⁺). High iron concentrations can cause staining and problems with the taste and smell of the water.

6. Ferric Iron – 0-6 ppm
   Ferric iron (Fe³⁺) is the oxidized form of iron, which tends to be insoluble in water and can cause visible deposits or water cloudiness. This type of iron is responsible for brown stains on sanitary fixtures or pipe rusting.

7. Ferrous Iron – 0-6 ppm
   Ferrous iron (Fe²⁺) is the dissolved and colorless form of iron in water. Although ferrous iron is not initially visible, it can oxidize into ferric iron when exposed to air, causing rust stains.

8. Copper – 0-6 ppm
   Copper can originate from water pipes or other pollution sources and can become problematic at high concentrations. Concentrations above 1.3 ppm can be harmful to health, and high copper levels can cause a metallic taste and corrosion.

9. Nitrate (NO₃) – 0-45 ppm
   Nitrates originate from fertilizers, animal waste or wastewater infiltration and can cause health problems, particularly for infants, who may develop a condition called methemoglobinemia (“blue baby syndrome”). The maximum permitted limit for drinking water is 10 ppm of nitrate nitrogen (approximately 45 ppm nitrates).

10. Nitrite (NO₂) – 0-2 ppm
    Nitrites are an intermediate form in the nitrogen cycle and are far more toxic than nitrates. They are formed from nitrates through the action of bacteria. The maximum permitted limit for drinking water is 1 ppm of nitrites. High levels may indicate contamination of the water with animal waste or wastewater.

11. Total Alkalinity – 0-250 ppm
    Alkalinity measures the capacity of water to neutralize acids and is essential for stabilizing pH. Alkalinity that is too low can make the pH unstable, while alkalinity that is too high can make the water alkaline, affecting its taste and interaction with other chemical treatments.
